WWE sent in word that former MMA fighters Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke have reported to the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Shafir and Duke are part of MMA’s “Four Horsewomen” along with Ronda Rousey and NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler.
As WWE.com puts it, “MMA’s Four Horsewomen have arrived in WWE in full force.”
Duke was a pro MMA Fighter from 2012-2016. She fought as a bantamweight for various promotions including the UFC and appeared on UFC’s “Ultimate Fighter” series back in 2013 as part of “Team Rousey.”
Shafir fought for Invicta and Lights Out Promotions. She is engaged to NXT Superstar Roderick Strong and has been seen ringside for many of Strong’s NXT matches.
WWE fans might remember MMA’s horsewomen having a confrontation with Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Bayley at last year’s Mae Young Classic. With Shafir and Duke now officially working under the WWE banner, the stage is set for both Charlotte and Ronda Rousey to have the backing of their respective crews when that eventual showdown occurs.
