Daniel Bryan has been a regular competitor in the WWE for the past several months since being cleared to medically return to the ring. But that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t have some hurdles to overcome with the company.

Bryan has yet to sign a new contract with WWE, and his current one is set to expire very soon. According to a report from Wrestling Standard WWE is preparing in case Bryan decides to leave the company.

These preparations include booking him in matches and storylines that were previously scheduled to take place later this year. Bryan’s contract with WWE expires in September and the company still doesn’t know if he’s going to re-sign.

WWE wants to get the most out of him while they still have him, which explains his recent work against the likes of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy and his Team Hell No reunion with Kane.

As for WWE’s plans for Bryan at Extreme Rules, apparently the current plan is for The Miz to cost Team Hell No their shots at the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships. This will lead to a feud between Bryan and Miz at SummerSlam, a match Miz would likely win. Should Bryan re-sign with WWE, however, that feud could turn into a multi-match rivalry.

Bryan is also said to have signed with the same agency that represents John Cena, as he wants the best deal possible.
