WWE announced on Friday that Samoa Joe will get another shot at the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell. In a rematch from last weekend’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, Joe will challenge AJ Styles for the title on Sunday, September 16th.
The Samoan Submission Machine has been relentless in taunting Styles with personal attacks. We have seen Joe’s dark side before, but things have been escalating in recent weeks. At SummerSlam, Styles finally had enough. With his family at ringside and Joe addressing his wife and children on the microphone during their match, Styles snapped. He grabbed a chair and unleashed a furious attack on Joe, which resulted in a disqualification. On Tuesday’s SmackDown Live, Joe struck once again.
WWE’s match announcement did not make any reference to Styles vs. Joe taking place inside the Hell in a Cell cage. This is somewhat surprising, considering how intense this feud has gotten and the fact that their SummerSlam match ended in a DQ. Perhaps we’ll see a stipulation added in the coming weeks.
