Earlier today (Fri. August 31, 2018) former WWE Champion Glenn “Kane” Jacobs was sworn in as mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

Fellow WWE veteran Goldust was in attendance for the ceremony this morning. He took the following photo with “The Big Red Machine” and uploaded it to Twitter:

Earlier this year Jacobs won his Republican primary before going on to face Democratic opponent Linda Haney. Jacobs took the election in a landslide. He earned 43,526 votes (66%) as opposed to Haney’s 22,295 votes (34%).

Jacobs’ campaign website lists the seven top issues he looks to topple during his tenure as mayor:

Committed to keeping taxes low
Renewed focus on quality of education
Continue to attract new jobs to the area
Improve our roads and infrastructure
Full and absolute transparency
Work to create safer communities
A fresh outlook on limited government

With Kane now becoming mayor of Knox County, it leads many to question his professional wrestling career. The 51-year-old admitted recently that he would entertain WWE appearances during his tenure as mayor.

However, he won’t commit to anything long-term. His duties as mayor of Knox County will be his primary focus.
