On Friday, it was revealed that WWE will be airing a Starrcade special next Sunday, November 25th at 8 p.m. ET. The one-hour special will feature some of the matches that will take place.
For the second straight year, WWE has decided to bring back Starrcade for a special dual-branded live event as it takes place Saturday, November 24th from Cincinnati, Ohio at the US Bank Arena. The arena website is advertising the following matches:
Street Fight for the WWE Intercontinental Title: Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins
WWE United States Title Match: Rey Mysterio vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
SmackDown Tag Team Title Match: The New Day vs. The Bar
Steel Cage Match: Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles
Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin
Finn Balor vs. Drew McIntyre
Rusev with Lana vs. The Miz
Elias performs a special concert with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair
The premier event of the National Wrestling Alliance and, later, WCW, Starrcade got its start in Greensboro on Thanksgiving 1983 with a star-studded lineup. Starrcade remained in Greensboro through 1986 and was the stage on which legendary performers like Dusty Rhodes, The Four Horsemen, Magnum TA, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and many more etched their names into sports-entertainment history.
As the calendar turned to the 1990s, a new generation of competitors emerged to take the Starrcade spotlight, like Sting, Vader and the nWo. The last edition of Starrcade under the WCW banner took place in December 2000.
