John Cena has accomplished an undeniable amount during his time with WWE. A multiple time champion, an irrefutable megastar, and now an up-and-coming actor in Hollywood, John Cena has done more than most could hope to dream of within the company. He’s been a trendsetter and a record breaker over the many years, acting as an almost constant mainstay within WWE’s main event scene.

There is, however, one thing Cena hasn’t broken: Ric Flair’s legendary championship record.

On a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall Of Famer, and current ROH wrestler, Bully Ray discussed the possibility of John Cena surpassing Flair’s long-standing record. The two are currently tied at sixteen reigns.

“There is going to be a large portion of wrestling fans who might not want to see John win since they don’t want to see Ric Flair’s record broken,” Bully Ray said.

“Listen, it’s tied right now, so the best way to get out of that is to have Flair endorse it, Bully explained. “You have that final sit down between John Cena and Ric Flair where John is torn whether or not he really wants to do this. Does he really want to break the record out of respect for Ric?”

“Then Ric is the one who talks to him and smacks him in the face and tells him, ‘You go out there and break that record.’ When he wins, Ric Flair hands him the championship. That’s a mega moment. That’s a WrestleMania moment!”
