Another former WWE star is set to make their debut in the world of mixed martial arts. Ex-WWE World Champion Jack Swagger (real name Jake Hager) will be competing in Bellator MMA’s heavyweight division. This weekend (Sat. January 26, 2019) Hager will face J.W. Kiser at Bellator 214 from The Forum in Inglewood, California. He participated in a media scrum this week to promote the event.

Swagger revealed that he has received an abundance of support from fellow professional wrestlers in his new venture. Specifically, he named Rey Mysterio, Roman Reigns, and Vince McMahon. In fact, he shared a bit of advice that “The Chairman Of The Board” had for him:

“Don’t lose.”

Undoubtedly, the most successful WWE star to transition into MMA is Brock Lesnar. “The Beast” is a former UFC heavyweight champion and has shared the cage with some of the best heavyweights in history. CM Punk made his UFC debut in 2016. He was submitted by Mickey Gall in the first round of their bout at UFC 203.

Punk attempted to bounce back at UFC 225 in June but was defeated by Mike Jackson in his hometown by way of unanimous decision. It will be interesting to see how Hager, a former NCAA Division I competitive wrestler, fares inside the cage.
