Earlier this week, WWE confirmed Dean Ambrose will not be renewing his WWE contract when it runs up in April. This news is evidently causing the promotion to worry about losing more talent.

According to a report from PW Insider, a meeting was held on Tuesday at Smackdown. Superstars whose contracts are coming up in the next 1-2 years were pulled into a room to discuss signing longer-term deals.

“After the Dean Ambrose news came out on late Monday/early Tuesday, there was a buzz of activity backstage at SmackDown as anybody who had a contract that was coming up in the next year or two was pulled into rooms and spoken to by management about signing longer form deals,” the report reads. All the wrestlers were sitting around looking at each other and going ‘would you look at this? this is crazy!’”

Ambrose is reported to have turned down a 5-year deal which would have seen him earn 7-figures per year guaranteed.

In recent weeks there have been numerous reports regarding WWE Superstars requesting their release from the company. In addition to Ambrose, the list of wrestlers reportedly wanting out of WWE includes The Revival, Maria & Mike Kanellis and Hideo Itami.

The Revival is said to have had their request rejected. Unconfirmed reports also stated the Kanellis’ may have asked for their releases as well. WWE did, however, grant Hideo Itami his requested release from the company this week.

I cant believe we are at a point in the business where Dean Ambrose is getting 7 figure offers.

Thank you. Glad someone else sees the ridiculousness of this ordeal. :)
