AEW will be bringing back the Over Budget Battle Royal for Double or Nothing. The match was on the Zero Hour pre-show for All In as well with the winner being granted a shot at the ROH World Championship on the PPV. Flip Gordon (dressed as Rocky Romero’s Chico El Luchador character) won the battle royal but then lost to Jay Lethal.
On the latest episode of “Road to Double or Nothing”, Cody announced the match will return for the May 25th PPV.

“So when it came down to All In and we had an extra hour presented to us in the last minute,” Cody said. “We had a lot of people already in town with Starrcast. So we thought the idea we would do this battle royal but we would do a really good battle royal. But again, we didn’t have the money for it. So, we called it the Over Budget Battle Royal and I ended up selling the soft goods of the ring, the apron, the buckles, so that we could afford it and everyone could get a proper payday.”
“Now, I wouldn’t say it’s over-budget anymore but it’s still the Over Budget Battle Royal,” he continued. “And it’s returning for Double or Nothing.”
Cody would continue to say that battle royals are often thought of as bathroom breaks but not the one they had at All In. He also said the winner would receive a big reward. Cody would not say what that reward will be just yet, however.
