It looks like 2019 Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins was the cause of a few changes to this week’s Monday Night RAW. Rollins was expected to get physical on RAW this week but was not cleared to compete, per Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer. As a result, some re-writes to the show were made.
Rollins was initially to be heavily featured on Monday night. Instead, he did an interview segment with Charly Caruso backstage. RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey had been penciled in for a squash match with Alexa Bliss. She instead headlined the program opposite Ruby Riott in a more long-form contest. Re-writes reportedly began around 1 or 2 P.M. local time when Vince McMahon arrived at the arena.
The actual script wasn’t complete until 30 minutes after RAW had already begun. Changes were still being made an hour and a half into the program.
Rollins has been dealing with back issues for some time now. The injury does not require surgery, only rest, and, likely, stems. “The Architect” is close to being cleared to return to action, but was unable to do so for this week’s show. He’s still scheduled for all RAW TVs until WrestleMania, but is not being advertised for house shows. Rollins hasn’t wrestled a match since facing Dean Ambrose on the post-Royal Rumble episode of RAW.
