Matt Hardy surprised fans who attended and watched Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live.
The older Hardy brother teamed up with his little brother, Jeff, to take on former WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro) in a tag team match in Charlotte, NC at the Spectrum Center. The Hardy Boyz would go over in this contest. Tom Philips mentioned on commentary that Jeff and Matt had not teamed up under the WWE banner in a year.
Several months ago, it was reported that Hardy would be taking an extended break to deal with nagging injuries and he has been “shadowing” WWE producers behind the scenes and is transitioning to a backstage role with the company.
He was last seen in action back in September when he worked a few WWE live events by teaming with Bray Wyatt against then-WWE Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. Just last month, the longtime WWE star provided the latest updated on his status when mentioned in a response to a fan that he’s been given the greenlight physically.
It appears that Matt will remain on the blue brand going forward and in a tag team with Jeff Hardy.
