Rapper Eminem will be working with WWE later this year, according to Fightful. The Detroit native is said to be producing music for the WWE 2K20 video game sound track. The deal would also reportedly include Eminem appearing on an episode of WWE SmackDown Live once it moves to the Fox network this fall.

Fightful states, “The deal, reached today [Tuesday], was put together in part to promote the launch of WWE SmackDown Live on the Fox Network. WWE is also planning on having a championship belt produced for Eminem.”

Eminem’s reps issued a denial about the report. In a statement published by Pro Wrestling Sheet:

“There was a very brief, exploratory conversation that involved a third party and 2K Sports, not Eminem’s team. It has not gone beyond preliminary discussions, and any reports to the contrary are false. Right now there are no plans to further pursue it.”

Sean Ross Sapp, who broke the story for Fightful, claims he has received the “threat of a legal threat” for reporting the Eminem-WWE story. However, he stands behind the report and maintains that he has no legal exposure here as a journalist.

The hilarity of us getting threats OF legal threats for publishing a story featuring information that Eminem's group, 2K, management and WWE didn't want out there. We didn't sign any NDAs. We are free to report that information.

Threatening to THREATEN legal action? Send us the C&D, don't give us the review copy or credentials and move on. A story got leaked, there's damage control because people are mad.

A partnership with Eminem would be a big get for WWE. With his legions of fans around the world, Eminem would bring significant attention to WWE’s annual 2K video game. Additionally, an appearance by Eminem would certainly draw interest to SmackDown Live on Fox. It wouldn’t be the first time WWE has leveraged a celebrity’s popularity to draw new viewers.
