Future WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio has suffered an ankle injury and was pulled from his match on the blue brand.
On late Tuesday afternoon, the company released a video on their social media accounts of the Kayla Braxton announcing the news that was taped at last night’s SmackDown Live TV event in Baltimore, MD at the Royal Farms Arena.
Mysterio was slated to take on Andrade on this episode of the blue branded show, but that match has been nixed due to the injury. This will serve as the WrestleMania 35 go-home edition of SmackDown.
Per WWE, the injury that he suffered happened during his contest against Baron Corbin in the main event of Monday’s episode of RAW in Washington, DC at the Capital One Arena on the USA Network.
Braxton noted that Rey’s injury will be re-evaluated as we get closer to WrestleMania 35. We hope to have a further update on if this is a legitimate injury and if so, the severity of it.
As of this writing, Rey is still scheduled to challenge WWE United States Champion Samoa Joe at WrestleMania 35 on Sunday, April 7, 2019, in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium.
