It was a surprise for a lot of fans to see the Universal Championship match between Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins open the WrestleMania 35 PPV.
Though if we believe Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, then the company hadn’t planned this match order in advance and the decision to make it the opening bout was made very late.
According to Meltzer, the decision wasn’t made until around 5:30 pm ET and Hulk Hogan who was part of the opening segment of the night wasn’t aware of it.
Hogan was called to the stage by the show’s host Alexa Bliss. These two welcomed the fans to the show and hyped the PPV but they were interrupted by Paul Heyman.
Heyman walked past them as the two were doing Hulk’s signature poses and the former World Champion reportedly had no idea why Paul was walking towards the ring.
Paul Heyman then proceeded to claim that if his client Brock Lesnar was not in the main event, then he won’t stick around and wait.
He called for the Universal Championship match to be the opening match for the show and it saw Seth Rollins defeating the Beast and taking the title off him with the help of a low blow.
