We reported the news of writer Robert Evans being let go by WWE recently and soon afterward, it was reported that ‘Road Dogg’ Brian James is stepping down from his position as the co-head writer of SmackDown Live.
After this news came out, people started speculating if James could be the next person the company is planning to release. However, an update on the matter suggests otherwise.
Pro Wrestling Sheet recently provided some update on the situation. They revealed that the former DX Member is not leaving the company and the Officials are looking to re-position him within the organization:
“Sources tell us it was a mutual decision to change Brian’s position with the impending move to Fox on the horizon, and not necessarily him “stepping down.” We’re told WWE wants to keep his position flexible at this time and use him as a utility player, so they can see where he’d fit best going forward.”
The report makes it clear that this wasn’t a contentious decision. No word yet on what role Brian James will be undertaking but it’s possible that he takes over the position of Arn Anderson at Live Events or even joins the commentary desk.
Though what Road Dogg actually does will be revealed in future. For now we can only wait to see what’s next for him and who fills the position of SmackDown’s head writer after his removal.
