WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins has his first title defense booked.
During Monday’s episode of RAW in Des Moines, IA at the Wells Fargo Arena, WWE held two triple threat matches that were contested with the winners of those bouts going one on one later in the night, with the winner of that match being crowned the new #1 contender for the title.
The triple threat matches were AJ Styles vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Samoa Joe and The Miz vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Baron Corbin. The winners of these matches were Styles and Corbin. The winner of the final contest was Styles.
As a result, Styles has secured the right to be called the #1 contender and will now challenge Rollins for the Universal Title at WWE’s next pay-per-view event, Money in the Bank.
WWE presents the Money In The Bank pay-per-view event on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in Hartford, CT at the XL Center that will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming weeks.
