Fox wants a sports-oriented product for SmackDown Live when the show moves to the network later this year but the recent behind the scene departures has fans worried about the show’s future.

However, WWE Hall Of Famer Bully Ray thinks he knows what can save SmackDown Live and bring the ratings back up – giving the keys of the kingdom to none other than the Mad Scientist Of Wrestling, Paul Heyman.

Ray talked about the recent rating decline and the impending Fox move during the latest episode of Busted Open Radio. He said that from the very beginning of SmackDown’s run on the new network, he’ll hand the pencil over to Hayman:

“From a creative point, you know what I would do? Right out of the gate I’d hand Paul Heyman the pencil and say ‘go get them.’ Because he’s probably the only proven one when it comes to making SmackDown special.”

Continuing on the topic, Bully Ray recalled the time Paul was the creative head for the show and claimed that Heyman is the one person who has the track record of making SmackDown successful and a better show than Raw.

We know he can get the job done and he is there. So Bully would put the pencil in his hand and ask him what he can do with it.
