Kurt Angle’s in-ring career came to an end at WrestleMania this year and shortly afterward, he revealed that he has signed a new, 5 years long contract with the company to stay with them in a backstage capacity.
The latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter discusses Angle’s final match and his retirement and also provides some update on his possible behind the scene role.
According to the report, the former World Champion is currently training to become a WWE producer. He has been shadowing the current producers for this from a while.
Angle has been trying to learn the different aspects of this job, though currently there is no word yet on which brand or which division the Olympic Gold Medalist is expected to end up at after the training period.
As noted before, the former Champion revealed the news of his new contract in a recent interview. He had explained that he will be helping wrestlers with their technique:
“I’m going to help the wrestlers with their technique, I’m going to help them structure their matches. It’s something I’m very good at and I thought I’d be able to contribute to the company.”
Kurt Angle wrestled Baron Corbin in his Farewell match at WrestleMania and ended his career by taking a loss at the hands of the former NXT Star.
While Angle did get physical on the next Raw, it seemed to be the end of his in-ring career and Kurt has since confirmed that he has no plans to return to the squared circle in future.
