Former WWE star Ashley Massaro has reportedly passed away. The Blast reports that the 39-year-old died Thursday (May 16, 2019) early morning. A “rescue call” came around 5:23 A.M. from her home in Smithtown, New York. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital where she later passed away.
No foul play played a role in her death, as police are classifying it as “non-criminal.” The Suffolk County Medical Examiner has yet to confirm the cause of death. Massaro is better known for winning WWE’s “2005 RAW Diva Search,” which included a one-year $250,000 contract. She’d go on to become the valet for the tag team of Paul London and Brian Kendrick.
She was also featured on the cover of Playboy Magazine in 2007. Massaro later left WWE in 2008. WWE released a statement shortly after the announcement of Massaro’s passing. It reads as follows:
“We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro. She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends”
