Following NXT TakeOver XXV this past Saturday, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events, and Creative, Triple H, took part in a media call. During this call, HHH provided a new update on former NXT Champion, Tommaso Ciampa.

He revealed that Ciampa is ahead of schedule post-neck surgery, and has been cleared for “non-contact” activity. Despite this good news, however, HHH clarified that Ciampa is still far from 100 per cent, and still has a way to go before the WWE Universe can see him return to in-ring action.

“Cleared for non-contact means you can’t do anything in this business,” Triple H explained. “[…] He’s ahead of schedule and doing extremely well. Ahead of schedule on all of it and moving along. But with the type of injury he had and the type of surgery he had, especially in this from a physicality standpoint, you’re not doing anything until you’re 100 per cent. It’s not like you can go in there and lightly take suplexes. You have to be 100 per cent. So, he’s still got a ways to go, but he’s way ahead of the curve and the schedule.”

Triple H added that “He’ll be back soon, and I’m sure when he does, he’ll be ready to claim his spot.”

Tommaso Ciampa suffered a severe neck injury back in February before undergoing surgery back in March. This injury, unfortunately, would see him have to relinquish the NXT championship, which he had lovingly nicknamed “Goldie.”
