Former WWE United States Champion Rusev has an important decision to make shortly as his contract is reportedly expiring relatively soon. Dave Meltzer reported the news on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.
As of this writing, there’s no word yet on if Rusev is interested in leaving WWE. The fact that he hasn’t signed a new contract with the company yet shouldn’t come as a shock to many fans as it’s been reported that he is unhappy with his position in WWE. This comes after some of his comments in media interviews and on social media.
Meltzer would later speculate that Rusev’s recent hiatus could be due to him being unhappy as it’s been reported that several stars are not happy right now in the company and waiting for their deals to expire in order to leave.
With him currently away from WWE as he recently requested some time off, Meltzer speculated that WWE could extend the length of the contract because of the days that he’s missed. WWE has done this in the past when a wrestler is a talent is out of action with an injury.
Rusev recently worked the 50-Man Battle Royal at the WWE Super ShowDown pay-per-view event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium earlier this month. He’s also only appeared on a handful of live events since WrestleMania 35.
