When Daniel Bryan won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship with Rowan, he promised to elevate the whole division and visioned of taking it to the main event of WrestleMania.
However, the former World Champion’s dreams couldn’t come true because his reign didn’t last that long and he lost the tag titles to the New Day at the Extreme Rules PPV.
Bryan and Rowan were defending the title in a three-way match against the New Day and Heavy Machinery, and the duo of Xavier Woods and Big E were able to snatch the belts after pinning Daniel by hitting a Midnight Hour.
The former Champions were interviewed backstage after the bout and an emotional Bryan had some cryptic words to offer on his loss during the PPV.
Daniel said that it wasn’t him who failed and in pursuing excellence, the fans brought him down to mediocrity. He was trying to elevate the tag team division but they’re now un-elevatable.
