Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor has been granted time off from WWE.
The news broke on Monday night after Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Balor will be taking a little bit of time away starting next month. It was noted in the report that Balor recently asked WWE officials for two months off.
While the exact reason for him requesting time off, one source told them that the wrestler was just looking to “recharge.” Once Balor put in the request, WWE granted it and his time off will begin sometime in August. Satin wrote, “From how it sounds, this would likely happen after SummerSlam.”
Balor dropped the Intercontinental Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura during the Extreme Rules kickoff show on Sunday night in Philadelphia, PA.
The SummerSlam pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, August 11, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario at the Scotiabank Arena and will air on the WWE Network.
As of this writing, there’s no word yet on who Balor will be facing at this event but it’s possible that WWE will book a rematch between Nakamura and Balor for the Intercontinental Title.
