It appears that WWE is listening to its fanbase regarding the runtime of their shows.

Fans picked up on the fact that WWE’s YouTube banner features promotional material for SummerSlam’s Kickoff show. On the image, it lists that the show will start at 6 P.M. Eastern.

Thus, this would be a change as typically, the pre-shows for WWE’s tent pole events– SummerSlam, WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series— feature a two-hour pre-show.

It means that SummerSlam would have a one-hour pre-show just like the other minor PPV events. You can see the image here:

It’s no secret that the majority of WWE fans haven’t been happy with WWE for the length of their pay-per-view events as they think the shows are too long.

Since the launch of WWE’s streaming service, WWE Network, the length of these pay-per-view events have been extended. The big four shows can last anywhere from four to six hours long. While their B-list shows are three and a half hours long.

The company does this to tout during their quarterly revenue conference calls with their investors about how many hours of content that fans watch on the WWE Network.

WWE presents the SummerSlam pay-per-view event on Sunday, August 11, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario at the Scotiabank Arena.
