Buddy Murphy has recently received a small push owing to his involvement in the Roman Reigns’ mystery attacker storyline, however, a latest report suggests that this wasn’t the original plan.
A picture went viral on the internet after the first attack on Roman Reigns. Fans noted that Murphy could be seen in the background during the segment and this led to speculations that he could have attacked the Big Dog.
However, Bryan Alvarez revealed on Wrestling Observer Live that this spotting was unintentional and the former 205 Live star wasn’t originally supposed to be seen in the footage of the attack.
Though after these speculations went viral, WWE Officials decided that they might as well run with it. They then chose to make Buddy a part of this angle by building the storyline that he knows the attacker.
The whole thing led to Murphy receiving a small push as part of a main event level storyline. Seeing how he has received high praise for his match with Roman Reigns at Smackdown this week, we can say that things worked out for the best.
This week’s episode of SmackDown Live saw Roman Reigns beating Buddy Murphy in a one on one match. Daniel Bryan later forced the Cruiserweight Star to admit that he lied about Rowan being Reigns’ attacker.
The show ended with Bryan claiming that he and Rowan have conducted their own investigation. He said that they have found out who attacked Roman and they will be revealing it on SmackDown next week.
