WWE has confirmed the news today that NXT will begin airing a live weekly 2-hour show Wednesday nights on USA. News of NXT’s debut on the network was reported yesterday but WWE officially confirmed the news in a press release Tuesday morning.

“WWE and USA Network today announced an agreement in principle to air WWE’s weekly Wednesday night show, NXT, live on USA Network at 8/7 C starting Sept. 18,” a WWE press release reads.

Whether the show will travel to different venues or remain filmed at Full Sail University is still unclear. The company has tapings at Full Sail scheduled for September 11th and 12th.

The September 18th premiere date for NXT on the network will give it a 2-week head start in the time slot before AEW on TNT debuts from 8-10PM as well on Wednesday nights beginning October 2nd. WWE Smackdown will then move from Tuesday nights on USA to Friday nights on Fox beginning October 4th, 2019.

“The move to USA Network provides an opportunity to deepen our relationship with NBCUniversal and further build the NXT brand,” said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman & CEO. “Over the long term, our goal is to develop a following that can be monetized to the same level as our flagship programs, Raw and SmackDown.”

“USA Network and WWE have one of the longest and most successful partnerships in television history,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks – USA and SYFY. “As the No. 1 cable entertainment network, we’re excited to add NXT to our weekly lineup alongside powerhouse flagship Raw and to bring a new generation of Superstars to a wide audience.”
