Some details have surfaced as to how much money WWE is getting for airing NXT TV on the USA Network.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that WWE is getting a minimum of $50 million per year in rights fees with NXT. This is the latest deal to add to the sum of money that WWE gets for their television programs.
It was noted that the number could be more than $50 million, but that is the “bottom” number.
In the press release that officially announced the news, WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon noted that the goal was to make NXT as profitable as Raw and SmackDown.
“The move to USA Network provides an opportunity to deepen our relationship with NBCUniversal and further build the NXT brand,” said Vince McMahon. “Over the long term, our goal is to develop a following that can be monetized to the same level as our flagship programs, Raw and SmackDown.”
Meltzer added that McMahon is not expected to be at the NXT shows and in fact, he has been missing more RAW and SmackDown Live TV events as of late.
Fightful and Pro Wrestling Sheet have reported that the NXT product will remain the same despite moving networks.
Along with the NXT TV, WWE will also make $265 million per year with RAW on the USA Network while SmackDown Live will bring in $205 million per year on FOX.
