WWE NXT Superstar, and former New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, KUSHIDA made his 205 Live debut during Tuesday night’s episode of the show. He would be revealed to be Jack Gallagher’s mystery partner.
The pair defeated the team of Akira Tozawa and The Brian Kendrick. The win came afer KUSHIDA locked in the Hoverboard Lock, forcing Kendrick to tap out.
At the time of writing, it is not known whether this is a permanent move for KUSHIDA, or if his appearance on 205 Live was merely a one-off with the brand. With more and more WWE Superstars jumping between brands in recent months, it’s not impossible that KUSHIDA may wrestle for both NXT and 205 Live.
If he does continue to compete for WWE’s purple brand, it may only be a matter of time before he finds himself rekindling his competitive rivalry with Cruiserweight Champion, Drew Gulak.
The two have faced each other multiple times across both NXT and EVOLVE. KUSHIDA holds numerous victories over Gulak, including in a submission match on NXT back in June. He went on to challenge for Gulak’s Cruiserweight Championship at EVOLVE 134 in August, where he ultimately lost to the defending champion.
