Lindsey Kildow will compete in the women's combined. She finished the downhill despite crashing during training.
SESTRIERE, Italy - Lindsey Kildow and Janica Kostelic will race in the women’s Olympic combined.
Kildow crashed in downhill training Monday, but raced Tuesday and finished tied for eighth.
“She will go today, if the race is on,” U.S. coach Patrick Riml said Friday.
Thursday’s downhill training session was canceled due to bad weather, and the downhill portion of Friday’s combined is also in jeopardy.
Kostelic, who pulled out of the downhill because she wasn’t feeling well, has won the last six combined races she’s entered, including the last Olympics and the past two world championships.
“Janica will start. She’s feeling better,” Croatia team spokesman Ozren Mueller said Friday. “She sweated it out last night.”
Kostelic, who practiced Thursday, won three golds in Salt Lake City four years ago.
The combined race features one downhill and two slalom legs.
If weather does force cancellation of the downhill, the slaloms could still be held later Friday. The downhill run would likely be rescheduled for Saturday afternoon, after the men’s super-G.
