More details on the reason why WWE brought in heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury to work a match at the upcoming Crown Jewel pay-per-view event.

The belief is that Fury is likely receiving significant money to make his WWE in-ring debut. It’s well known that WWE gets big money for putting on shows in Saudi Arabia and how stars receive hefty paydays.

It turns out that Mohammad bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, wanted Fury to compete at the show, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio.

As of this writing, it has yet to be confirmed whether WWE is receiving extra money to bring Fury in.

This also hasn’t been the first time that WWE and Fury have had talks. While Meltzer was talking with Triple H at the press conference in Las Vegas on Friday, which is where it was noted that Fury approached WWE several years ago, but no deal was reached.

The reason for the deal not being reached is unknown.

WWE approached Fury very recently and the deal was made. The contest is believed to be a one-off for Fury. He’ll take on Braun Strowman at the show.

After this match, he’ll switch his focus to fighting Deontay Wilder in 2020, in a rematch from their December 2018 bout.
