It appears that WWE has some interesting plans for returning RAW Superstar Jinder Mahal. The former WWE Champion returned to television on the 4/27 episode of Monday Night RAW. Sporting a new look, Mahal defeated 205 Live’s Akira Tozawa in a dominant victory. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is interested in positioning Mahal as a babyface going forward.
Jinder Mahal appeared on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. He delivered a positive, babyface promo backstage. During his promo, Jinder Mahal praised Drew McIntyre’s success in WWE. He shared how he is “positively elated” for his friend.
Having returned, he stressed how he is on a new path now. He confessed he has made a lot of mistakes in the past. Not interested in repeating those errors, Jinder Mahal was adamant that his journey back to the top will be a “Hero’s journey.”
The belief is that WWE wants to have a top babyface from India and that Jinder Mahal is the right choice. It was noted that Mahal’s previous main event run apparently didn’t make a big difference in India.
“The Modern Day Maharaja” was a heel during that time, so perhaps a push as a babyface could lead to different results.
