Shawn Michaels has announced a ladder match to determine the new NXT Women's Champion for the upcoming Stand & Deliver event.

The March 7 edition of NXT saw the brand's Women's Champion Roxanne Perez successfully defending her title against Meiko Satomura. After the match, however, the female star collapsed. This mimicked a spot from Michaels' career where he also collapsed during an episode of Raw in 1995.

Dr. Warren Becker provided an update on Perez on this week's episode of the show. He noted that Roxanne is symptomatically stable but they have not been able to identify the cause for her collapse and as such, there is no timetable for her return.

Shawn Michaels then took the matters into his own hand. The WWE Hall of Famer announced a ladder match to determine the new NXT Women's Champion:

“As of Friday Morning Roxanne Perez was discharged from the hospital. However after numerous tests Roxanne’s health is still in question. With Stand and Deliver in less than three weeks I have the obligation to announce we possibly have to crown a New NXT Women’s Champion.

Starting tonight there will be a series of qualifying matches with the winners advancing to Stand and Deliver to compete to become the NXT Women’s Champion in a Ladder Match.”

WWE held two qualifying bouts for the championship match on NXT after this announcement. The bouts saw Zoey Stark and Gigi Dolin picking up singles victories to earn a spot in the upcoming ladder match.
