Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson may have hindered the Shazam! franchise if recent reports are to be believed.

Last year, Johnson's long-awaited Black Adam film was released to a disappointing reception. The former WWE Champion, who hasn't wrestled in years, had been working on getting it made for over 10 years. The film ultimately failed to leave much of a mark at the box office, cancelling any chance of a sequel.

The post-credits scene got a lot of interest due to the return of Henry Cavill as Superman. The scene suggested a crossover film between the characters could've been in the works with rumors suggesting Johnson was looking to center the DCEU on their characters moving forward.

However, with both Johnson and Cavill out of the franchise now, it's unlikely viewers will ever get a pay-off for their post-credits interaction.

A recent report from The Wrap revealed that Black Adam initially had a very different post-credits scene planned that Johnson himself ultimately nixed.

The report from The Wrap revealed that Johnson had little interest in the Black Adam character meeting Shazam. In the comics, Black Adam is typically a villainous figure who frequently butts heads with his more heroic counterpart in Shazam.

In The Rock's hands, however, Black Adam was more of an anti-hero who ultimately saves the day. Zachary Levi, who portrays Shazam, was initially expected to turn up in the Black Adam post-credits scenes. However, the plans were dropped by Johnson himself, presumably to make way for the Superman scene audiences wound up getting.

The original planned post-credits scene for the recently released Shazam! Fury of the Gods was supposed to see Justice Society members recruit Shazam. The team were a key presence in Black Adam. However, Dwayne Johnson also vetoed any JS involvement, leading to Peacemaker characters Harcourt and Economos approaching Shazam instead.

Zachary Levi has since shared info from The Wrap's report on his Instagram Stories, seemingly confirming its authenticity.

With Dwayne Johnson officially out of the DCEU and the new Shazam! movie proving to be a box office disappointment, it appears Warner Bros. will not be continuing either series for some time.
