NXT is seemingly resurrecting yet another retired WWE event.
NXT has revived a handful of former pay-per-view names for both TV specials on the USA Network and premium live events on Peacock. The shows include WCW's The Great American Bash and Halloween Havoc which have become annual specials.
Popular among the fans in the 90s, WWF pay-per-view In Your House has been brought back for the white and gold show. 2000s WWE staple Vengeance has been revamped into NXT Vengeance Day and NXT had also repurposed Roadblock.
A recent trademark filing implies that the Shawn Michaels-led brand is set to bring back yet another retired WWE pay-per-view sooner or later.
WWE held 'Battleground' pay-per-views from 2013 to 2017, before retiring the show. It seems that it could be brought back as part of NXT.
On March 20, WWE filed a trademark for the term 'NXT Battleground' under entertainment services with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This indicates that the name will be coming back under the developmental banner.
As the things stand, it is unknown when NXT is planning to host Battleground. NXT premium-live events are already decided for the remainder of the year with events such as NXT Spring Breakin' and NXT Heatwave.
NXT Stand & Deliver takes place on Saturday, 1 April at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA.
