WWE has high hopes for Dragon Lee after signing him to a contract where he is working in NXT and training at the Performance Center in Orlando, FL, to get used to the WWE style.
The belief has been that Lee will be fast-tracked to the main roster as they see big things in his future with them and think he has the potential to be the next great Mexican star, such as Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero.
He made a name for himself by working in promotions such as AAA. Lee wrestled for the first time in WWE at a live event earlier this month before making his television debut a few weeks ago.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Lee has a “much larger than usual NXT deal,” although the terms of the deal are unknown.
Lee vs. WWE NXT North American Champion Wes Lee vs. JD McDonaugh vs. Ilja Dragunov vs. Axiom in a Fatal 5-Way Match is slated for Saturday’s Stand and Deliver special.
This will be Lee's in-ring TV debut with WWE. He was among the competitors to call out Wes Lee for a title shot.
