Night two of WrestleMania 39 saw the surprise resurgence of former SmackDown Tag Team Champion, Shane McMahon. Unfortunately, his return plans would soon be derailed by a sudden injury, but luckily, one of the show's co-hosts quickly stepped up in his place.
After falling to Pat McAfee the night prior, The Miz was not looking to wrestle again on night two, but his co-host rapper Snoop Dogg had other ideas. As Snoop pointed to the stage, the music of Shane McMahon, Miz's former tag team partner, began to play. Begrudgingly, The Miz accepted the impromptu match.
Shane McMahon took swift control of the bout early on, but upon landing down a leapfrog jump, it was later revealed that McMahon sustained a torn quad. With McMahon down with injury, Snoop Dogg took his place, unloading two gnarly punches on The Miz, before delivering the People's Elbow to secure the win.
Speaking with WWE's Cathy Kelley, Snoop Dogg admitted his involvement in the match was improvised, but it filled him with much exhilaration.
"I didn't even know I was going to be in that match until the match actually took place. But that's what I love about WrestleMania. It's always so much that's unpredictable. It's always something to keep you on the edge of your seat. And tonight, I was able to be a part of it from the inside and not just on the outside. So, it was a great feeling to be able to be a part of it, to do what I did and to hold my belt up high at the end of the night."
Following his victory over The Miz, Snoop also suggested that The Miz might want to do his hosting duties by himself going forward.
Referee Jessika Carr was reported to be instrumental in choreographing the abrupt match between Snoop Dogg and The Miz.
