The company is slowly getting Reed involved with opportunities on the main roster. He made his WWE return after he was released in 2021 to help The Miz defeat Dexter Lumis at Monday Night Raw on Dec. 19, 2022. Since his return, Reed has yet to have a feud with another wrestler. He's competed in five televised matches where he swiftly defeated his opponents. However, WWE seems to have started a feud between him and former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.
The company purposely had Lashley eliminate Reed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal match at Friday Night Smackdown on March 31. WWE followed up by having Reed confront Lashley at Monday Night Raw on April 3.
The two finally had their physical showdown on April 10 episode, in which the match ended with a double count-out. While fans have praised the match online, Reed has shared on Twitter that his performance wasn't even his best.
"Been sick all week with the flu, uncle Bobby still hasn't felt me at my full force," he wrote.
Reed is getting an exciting opportunity by working with Lashley. In the match, Lashley attempted to put the "Hurt Lock" on Reed several times, but Reed was able to power out of it. Reed also had moments in the match to show off his skill in the ring, as this was the longest singles match on the main roster. How the match ended could lead to a rematch between Reed and Lashley.
The former WWE Champion could use a fresh opponent, as he couldn't continue his feud with Bray Wyatt. Reed presents an interesting challenge as the story for Lashley is he wasn't able to put the "Hurt Lock" on Reed because he was too strong. In the Twitter post, Reed also teased that story wasn't over. The next time WWE fans will see the rematch, it could be at WrestleMania Backlash on May 6.
