Fans of Gunther and Brock Lesnar may have to wait a little longer to see the two go head-to-head in the ring.
Fans have been eagerly anticipating a potential matchup between Gunther and Brock Lesnar, with rumors circulating that the bout could take place at this year's SummerSlam event.
However, a new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed that there are currently no plans for the two superstars to meet each other in the ring.
According to the report, if Lesnar does appear at SummerSlam, he will not be going up against Gunther, as there is already a different direction in place for the former WWE Universal Champion. While the possibility of the match cannot be completely ruled out, it seems that fans will have to wait a little longer to see this "dream match" come to fruition.
“Right now there are no plans for Lesnar vs. Gunther at SummerSlam or Lesnar vs. Gunther any time soon. Of course that can change because it is a viable match, but if Lesnar is scheduled on SummerSlam there is already a direction that isn’t Gunther.”
It's worth noting that WWE had originally planned for Gunther to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 39, but the company ultimately changed its plans, with Lesnar facing Omos instead. Gunther ended up defending his Intercontinental Title in a triple threat match against Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. Despite the change of plans, it's clear that Triple H has been considering the possibility of a Gunther-Lesnar matchup for some time.
In fact, it was reported before WrestleMania that Triple H was eyeing up WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia as the ideal time for the match to take place, indicating that the company has long-term plans for Gunther and Lesnar.
