Hot off the heels of the major news that WWE will merge with the UFC, the wrestling empire is reportedly back in talks with one of America's biggest sports channels -- ESPN.
According to PWInsider, WWE has resumed discussions with ESPN about working together on some new projects. As of now, there have been no proposals to cultivate a weekly television series, as it still "very early on in conversations" and both sides appear to still be brainstorming ideas.
The report also noted that another wrestling promotion was also recently in discussions with ESPN, but with WWE approaching them now, the outcome of continuing of those alternative talks could pose a risk to ESPN. Though the identity of the opposing company remains unknown, PWI confirmed it was not AEW.
While the wrestling worlds waits to see if anything unfolds from these discussions, ESPN recently sent UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier to the site of WrestleMania 39 as their WWE analyst for the two-night event earlier this month.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, ESPN also licensed past WWE WrestleMania events to broadcast on their channel.
In related news, it was revealed earlier today that former WWE on-air personality Charly Arnolt (Charly Caruso) has departed from ESPN to pursue opportunities with OutKick - a 'fast rising national multimedia sports platform.'
Arnolt will host co-host a brand-new show and discuss a variety of sports-related topics on OutKick.
Most wrestling fans, of course, best know Arnolt for her appearances in WWE, where she served as a host and interviewer from 2016 up until her exit from the company in 2021.
