SummerSlam is over three months away, but the event is already doing record business for WWE.

The event takes place from Detroit's Ford Field on Saturday, August 5.

SummerSlam tickets went on sale to the general public last week. According to Sports Business Journal, WWE more than 32,000 tickets were distributed on the first day of public availability. This is the largest day-one sale for any WWE stadium event outside of WrestleMania in history.

The company has yet to announce any matches for SummerSlam, so this strong showing is a testament to WWE brand and its momentum.

WWE holds the attendance record for Ford Field, with WrestleMania 23 (featuring the Battle of the Billionaires) drawing a reported 80,103 fans.

Last year's SummerSlam from Nashville, TN packed over 48,000 fans into Nissan Stadium. Based on the early ticket sales for this year's installment, WWE should have no problem drawing a multi-million dollar gate this summer.

Summerslam won't be the only pro wrestling stadium event happening that month. Just three weeks after Summerslam, All Elite Wrestling presents All In 2023 from London's Wembley Stadium.

There are many factors that will determine which show sells more tickets. It's not an apples-to-apples comparison, but that won't stop the tribalistic fanbases from claiming bragging rights, whichever company has the bigger audience.
