Rhea Ripley is having a breakout year in WWE. She won the 2023 Women's Royal Rumble match and went on to defeat Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39 to win the SmackDown Women's championship. She's also a big part of the Judgment Day, one of the hottest factions in WWE, and has even expressed interest in challenging for the Intercontinental Championship, currently held by Gunther.

Success does not come overnight. It took years for Ripley to find her rhythm in WWE. In fact, she's quite spoken about feeling discouraged during her early days on the main roster (she got called up in 2021).

Ripley spoke to her path to greatness on the latest episode of WWE's After the Bell podcast. She told Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick that she gives a lot of credit to Raquel Rodriguez, who she calls her best friend, and Attitude Era legend Scotty 2 Hotty (Scott Garland), one of her trainers at the Performance Center.

There were many times that she'd get discouraged during training, but Garland was always there to cheer her up and motivate her.

Garland replied by saying how rewarding it is to know he's had an impact on someone's journey years after they worked together. He's proud of Rhea and Raquel and considers them his "wrestling daughters."

Ripley tweeted back that Garland made a profound impact on her life and will be her "forever coach."
