Trish Stratus is still getting used to portraying a heel character after being presented as a babyface for nearly two decades.
Stratus recently shocked fans by crossing over to the dark side. On the April 10 episode of WWE Raw, Stratus and Becky Lynch lost the Women's tag titles to Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. Stratus served as a replacement for Lita, who was attacked backstage earlier in the evening by a mystery assailant.
Following the title match, Stratus unleashed a vicious attack on Lynch.
On this week's Raw, Stratus she cut her first heel promo in 18 years and berated the fans. She explained her actions and blasted Lynch for showing her proper respect.
The 7-time WWE Women's Champion further claimed that she was the trailblazer and paved the way for younger female talents in the early 2000s.
Stratus appeared on Wednesday's edition of Busted Open Radio on SiriusXM to provide an out-of-character take on her new role as a heel. Despite being a Hall of Famer with a ton of experience, it's interesting to learn that she felt somewhat apprehensive after the promo. Thankfully, she thrives on a good challenge.
“I had to get a point across so that’s what I did… I remember saying ‘God, I haven’t done a heel promo in 18 years. Like it’s been a long time right?… Was I apprehensive? I always am but that’s what’s exciting to me. I thrive on challenge, that’s part of why I’m even doing this.”
Stratus said her recent work on the Canada’s Got Talent game show helped her stay sharp on the microphone.
“I speak to a theater of 5,000 people and one thing that’s interesting is when I do Can’s Got Talent the producers always come to me and say, ‘God, you’re so good at getting the crowd.’”
Lynch is yet to respond to Stratus. 'Big Time Becks' missed this week's Raw, but you can be sure these two will be crossing paths again in the near future.
