Backlash is drawing near, as it is set to take place on May 6 in Puerto Rico. While many matches are yet to be announced, its main event has been reportedly confirmed.
There are two matches announced for Backlash so far. The first is involving Undisputed Tag Team Champions, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, teaming up with Matt Riddle to take on the Bloodline consisting of the Usos and Solo Sikoa in a six-man tag team match.
The second confirmed match is between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar. The match was made official after Rhodes became victim to a vicious assault by Lesnar on the April 3 edition of Raw.
The next week, the match between the two was made official when it was clear that things were not going to work between them. Rhodes was stopped by Adam Pearce and later, security as he tried to get revenge on Lesnar.
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rhodes vs. Lesnar is confirmed to be the main event of Backlash. Meltzer also expects more matches to be announced in the coming weeks, with Rey Mysterio & Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest & Dominik Mysterio or possibly a trios match involving them being another major match on the card.
It was also noted that although Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch was heavily promoted on Raw, it has not yet been confirmed for the Backlash event. Additionally, while it is rumored that the women's tag titles and the IC title may be defended at the event, nothing has been confirmed as of yet. The show is already a hot ticket, with all 17,000 tickets sold out.
It will be interesting to see the developments in the upcoming weeks leading to Backlash.
