Kurt Angle is seemingly planning to make a return and join forces with none other than The Alpha Academy member, Chad Gable.
Experts have drawn similarities between Angle and Gable due to their similar Olympic wrestling backgrounds and comedic personalities. In the past, Angle also said that watching Chad Gable wrestle reminded him of his old days.
Gable is certainly one of the most talented superstars in the company and he is technically very strong, something that Angle has boasted about in his career.
Kurt Angle had won a gold medal with a broken 'freaking' neck in 1996 Atlanta, USA. Meanwhile, at the 2012 Summer Olympic in London, Chad won a gold medal.
During his latest edition of The Kurt Angle Show Podcast, Angle, who has had heel runs in WWE, spoke highly of Gable and expressed his desire to team up with him as a heel duo. However, Angle cast doubt on his ability to play a heel role at this stage in his career.
“I would love to be a heel with Chad Gable. He’s so entertaining. The two of us together would be unstoppable. But, I’m sorry to say — if I ever came back to wrestle, I don’t know if I’d be a heel.”
'The Olympic Gold Medalist' explained that it would be difficult for him to play a heel later on in his career because people tend to have sympathy for older wrestlers and want to cheer them on. He compared himself to Undertaker, who has so much respect from fans that it would be almost impossible for him to turn heel at this point.
“It’d be really difficult for me because of the career I have and the age I am. When you get older, people start having sympathy for you and they wanna cheer you on, they want you to win and it’s really hard to turn heel later on in your career.”
“Like Undertaker, look at him. He has so much respect. He’s been in the company for 30 years and all his accomplishments. You know how hard it would be for Undertaker to be a heel right now? It’s almost impossible and I think I’m comparable to that.”
Chad Gable and Kurt Angle had squared off on Raw back in 2019. Meanwhile, Angle’s last appearance in WWE came at the RAW 30th-anniversary show in January, where he appeared in a segment with DX and refereed a six-man tag match.
We will have to wait and see if Angle actually makes his return.
