Throughout Monday afternoon, there were rumblings of a big announcement being made on this week’s episode of WWE Raw. Hours later, WWE hyped the show around the major announcement from Triple H that would rock the company.
At the start of the second hour, Triple H came out for a promo segment. He said as a WWE star, he got to compete at the highest level and had the privilege to wrestle at WrestleMania 22 in Chicago, defending the WWE Title against one of the great of all time, John Cena.
Triple H said he has the privilege now to talk about Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, who is coming up on 1,000 days as champion. He put over Reigns for defending it against some of the best in the company. He said Reigns could hang with some of the greatest.
Triple H said that Reigns did something very smart in the reign and negotiated himself into a spot where he didn’t have to defend the title as frequently. He said that Reigns doing that is good for him but not for WWE, and the fans deserve more. He said that WWE and fans need more. He said when Reigns gets drafted to whatever brand he’s drafted to, he will take the title with him and he will stay there. The other brand will determine a new champion. On May 27 at Night of Champions, they will crown a new World Heavyweight Champion.
Triple H said the champion will be someone who is admired and will defend the title anywhere, anyplace, anytime. He said that the champion would earn the acknowledgment from fans.
