Brock Lesnar got a huge ovation from the crowd after his grueling match at WWE Backlash.
The company presented the post-Mania PLE this year from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The show featured a number of interesting matches including Bad Bunny vs Damian Priest in a street fight, The Bloodline vs Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens & Matt Riddle and more.
The fans got to see a number of surprises during the show. Former WWE star Carlito and Savio Vega both made unannounced appearances during the PPV event.
The main event of the night was the match between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar. This match had an ending that nobody would have expected.
Rhodes wasted no time getting to work and he attacked Lesnar during the Beast Incarnate's entrance itself. He beat down Brock using the steel steps as well as a steel chair before bringing him into the ring for the actual match.
Despite the beating, the former Universal Champion turned things around. He dominated most of the match. Towards the ending of the match, Cody drove Lesnar into an exposed turnbuckle. Lesnar's head was busted wide open from this spot and he was bleeding profusely in the final moments of the bout.
Cody Rhodes then tried to pin him using a Disaster Kick and double Cross Rhodes. But Brock kicked out and delivered an F5. When Rhodes kicked out of the F5, Brock locked him into the Kimura lock. However to the surprise of everyone, The American Nightmare managed to pick up the victory after rolling Lesnar into a pin.
The former AEW star quickly left the ring after the win but Lesnar stayed as the show went off air. He got a big standing ovation from the crowd for his performance after the cameras stopped rolling at Backlash/
