Cameron Grimes' future on WWE's main roster is looking very bright, with several people speaking highly of him backstage.
During the recent WWE Draft, Grimes was moved to SmackDown as the final selection made during the May 1, episode of Monday Night Raw. Grimes, a former NXT North American Champion, finished his time on the gold brand last December, but WWE held off on his call up until the right creative idea was pitched.
Grimes has already been impressive on the main roster, defeating Baron Corbin in mere seconds during his debut. Fightful Select confirms reports that WWE had planned on calling up Grimes for months but didn't want to rush things. The report adds that Cameron Grimes has several people backstage in WWE pulling for him, and has for quite some time. WWE's Chief Content Officer Triple H is said to be one of "several" higher-ups who are fans of his work and see Grimes'potential on the main roster.
Triple H isn't alone in his high estimation of Grimes. Fightful adds that "several agents and producers" have spoken highly of Grimes' work, with many having worked with him personally in the past. One longtime WWE employee described Grimes as a "slam dunk" in that he could work any number of styles.
Cameron Grimes will be in action on next week's SmackDown, which was filmed this week due to WWE traveling to Saudi Arabia next week for the Night of Champions Premium Live Event.
