Vincent Kennedy McMahon has taken his place "back on the throne" of WWE, according to some of the Superstars in the promotion.

McMahon retired from WWE last July to the hush-money scandal, but it wasn't long after leaving 'for good' that he planned his return. Those plans came to fruition in January of this year when the 77-year-old strongarmed his way back onto WWE's Board of Directors. McMahon made his return to a WWE TV taping (albeit behind the scenes) at the April 3, 2023, edition of Monday Night Raw. The post-WrestleMania 39 episode of the red brand saw several last-minute changes and was panned by audiences.

In only his second appearance at a WWE taping since his retirement, McMahon was backstage at this week's episode of Monday Night Raw. PW Insider reports that McMahon didn't run the show from Gorilla, but he did reorder matches and segments to suit his ideas for the show. Though changes occurred, the report stated that it wasn't seen as an "overly stressful" situation.

Mike Johnson of PW Insider also reported that there wasn't “resentment or anger” from talent on this occasion, with one commenting that the “band-aid had already been ripped off," a reference to the post-WrestleMania Raw. There’s also an “unspoken understanding” among talent that McMahon is “back on the throne,” and that while he isn’t around every week, he is in charge and his desires will be met.

This week's Raw saw Seth Rollins make his first televised World Heavyweight Championship defense, defeating Damian Priest. Becky Lynch and Zoey Stark also qualified for the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match on the show. GUNTHER defeated Kevin Owens while Cody Rhodes began a program with Dominik Mysterio.
