Seth Rollins is just a few weeks into his reign as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Rollins won the title over AJ Styles at the Night of Champions PLE in Saudi Arabia last month in the tournament finals to crown a new champion. On the Raw side of the bracket, Rollins defeated Finn Balor to become the first to reach the finals. Rollins defeated Damian Priest and Shinsuke Nakamura, and Balor defeated Cody Rhodes and The Miz.
Rollins made his first title defense at a house show last weekend before making his first title defense on television against Damian Priest this week on Raw in a match that went 21 minutes long and headlined the show.
Now, Rollins will be going to SmackDown when the company holds a blue-branded TV event in New York City at Madison Square Garden on July 7 as he is set to be in action.
The venue announced today that Rollins will defend the title against Priest at this upcoming SmackDown TV event. It’s likely to be just a dark match for the live fans in attendance. As of this writing, no other matches have been announced for the show.
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Bianca Belair, The Usos, Bobby Lashley, Bayley, Solo Sikoa, United States Champion Austin Theory, Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, The Street Profits, AJ Styles and LA Knight are also advertised for the show.
