“Young Rock,” a television show about the life of The Rock, is no more as it has been canceled by NBC after three seasons.
It covered his early upbringing, showcasing a strong and resilient family, in the wild world of pro wrestling. Each season progressed from him being a child to playing football at the University of Miami and then getting into the world of wrestling.
The Rock, Joseph Lee Anderson, Stacey Leilua, Ana Tuisila, Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant, Uli Latukefu, Fasitua Amosa, John Tui, and Matthew Willig starred in the series that Nahnatchka Khan and Jeff Chiang created.
Khan, Chiang, Rock, Dany Garcia, Jennifer Carreras, Hiram Garcia, and Brian Gewirtz served as Executive Producers while it was produced by Universal Television, Seven Bucks Productions and Fierce Baby Productions.
Last November, the third season of the show premiered with 13 episodes that concluded in February. Unfortunately, the ratings dropped for the new season, averaging 1.400 million viewers and a 0.25 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
To compare, the second season did 2.230 million viewers with a 0.39 rating which was a notable drop off from the average of 3 million viewers and a 0.62 demo rating in the first season.
NBC confirmed the cancellation today. They also canceled Grand Crew while the decision about the future of American Auto remains unclear. They did pick up a workplace comedy St. Denis Medical, starring Wendi McLendon-Covey and David Alan Grier, for a new series.
